What business opportunities are there?
Virtually every category of goods sold in a typical
department store or supermarket is available via Direct Sales.
• Personal Products - Cosmetics,
Fragrances, Skincare, Jewellery, Clothes.
• Food & Wellness - Supplements, Diet Plans, Fitness,
Aromatherapy.
• Household - Kitchenwares, Housewares, Electrical, Cleaning.
• Family - Books, Toys, Games, Audio Visual.
• Services - Telecoms.
Whilst other sectors such as mail order, direct mail
and the internet also offer the opportunity to make purchases from
the home, Direct Selling companies have a unique advantage. It
is the opportunity to give customers the chance to talk to someone
who represents the company, knows about the products on offer and,
very often, someone who uses the products themselves.
A hands on approach
Personal products particularly benefit from the 'try
and test' feature of Direct Selling. The same is true of books
and novel household items that may not be readily available in
retail stores.
A personal recommendation from a satisfied customer
is a powerful endorsement. With most Direct Selling businesses
it is also possible to see, touch and sometimes even try out the
product before deciding to buy - all with the added bonus of having
the order delivered to the home.
Always choose a DSA Member Company
Look for proof that any business you're thinking of
joining is a DSA Member. This gives an assurance that the
business opportunity is legal and that the company has agreed to
abide by the DSA Codes.
Not all direct sales are made in private homes.
For some part time Direct Sellers who have another job, there is the
opportunity to make sales to friends and colleagues at work.
